At MadRaj we’re dedicated to telling stories. We write, we produce, we direct, we show.

Our stories have something to say, and we love to say it in a funny, quirky and original way. 

We believe the most powerful stories are about ordinary people. Stories that make us laugh, stories that make us think, stories that reveal little truths about ourselves. Our challenge is to do all this at the same time.

MadRaj is a unique collaboration between Steve Nijjar and Ashruf Mukadam.  Our work reflects our early influences, from the colourful fantasies of Indian Cinema to the stark realism of European films. Our aim is to create stories that transcend boundaries - themes that have universal appeal.

Our background in theatre has given us our grounding in story-telling and crafting memorable characters. When engaging a live audience you don’t have a Plan B – the script has to be right. Our work never hits the floor until we’re completely happy with the script and we’ve taken the same approach in our filmmaking.

From our theatre productions to films, our mission is to take our stories to a national and increasingly international audience.
