When Amar Met Jay follows the lives of a family of second generation Asians caught between two cultures. Regarded as Indians in this country and foreigners in their home country, the play offers a comical insight into the moral choices, values and cultural dichotomy they face.
The show enjoyed a sell-out nationwide tour including a three week run in the Lyric Hammersmith, London. The play received significant critical acclaim and was billed as "One of the top ten shows to watch in London" by Metro.
The Ups & Downs of Mr Singh
Mr Singh is a local shopkeeper who craves a better life for himself and his family. His fortunes turn following a chance encounter with Laksmi Devi (the Godess of wealth). Suddenly, he has all the wealth he ever desired. But will this really make him happy and what was secret deal struck between him and Laksmi Devi?
The Ups and Down of Mr Singh was described as "pioneering work in the development of British-Asian drama" and was staged in the UK as well as Copenhagen, Denmark. Hum Tum
Hum Tum follows the story of two thieves trapped in a producers bedroom as they attempt to pilfer the script of his latest Bollywood blockbuster. But the robbery doesn't go as they planned and they find out a little more than they expected about the producer, his script and even each other.
This was the first Hindi comedy play commissioned by The Leicester Haymarket Theatre and enjoyed a sell-out run at this venue.
